Phillipsburg Defeats Hunterdon Central

Phillipsburg football hosted Hunterdon Central on Friday night after losing their last game to Hillsborough.
The first quarter ended scoreless. Neither team was able to move the ball.

Early in the second quarter, Nick Stettner passed to John Wargo, scoring the first P’Burg touchdown of the night. Colin Hoey’s kick was good. They led 7-0.

In the last few seconds of the half, Stettner passed the ball to Kevin Burgess, who ran the ball for another P’Burg touchdown.

In the third quarter, the score remained 14-0.

To start the fourth quarter, Central scored their first and only touchdown of the night.

To prevent another touchdown from being scored, Burgess intercepted the ball, putting P’Burg in scoring position. From there, Wargo scored his second touchdown of the night. All three of Hoey’s extra points were good.

The final score was Phillipsburg 21, Hunterdon Central 7.
