The Minersville Boy’s Soccer brotherhood is strong going into year two

Minersville Boy’s Soccer head coach, Ed Burke, preaches that his players are a brotherhood. That same exact 15 player brotherhood from last year returns, plus 4 new underclassmen. The Battlin’ Miners made it to the District 11 Class A Semifinals and lost to Tri-Valley by a score of 4-1. After starting the season 7-1, they went on a rocky path only winning 3 of their last 10 games before the postseason.

This year, it’s revenge against Tri-Valley not just because of the 3 loses, but also because the Bulldogs stole a soccer ball owned by the Minersville program after defeating them 5-0 in the regular season. For the 2 seniors, Dylan Haslam and Shane Fessler, they’re happy that their last two soccer seasons are at their home school, rather than playing at North Schuylkill under a co-op agreement.

Burke says that his team is hungry to work hard as shown by their aggressiveness throughout the first week of practice. He (Burke) also says his men are willing to arrive up to 40 minutes before practice and stay late.
