Jillian Mayes will play at Frostburg State

Key Returning Players:
Ruby Miller: (Senior) Ruby has played center midfield the past two seasons and has one of the biggest work ethics during the game that I have ever seen. She is extremely fun to watch, she is tenacious and receives a lot of compliments from other coaches because of her competitiveness. She is also a member of the SACC council for the EPC, she was a member of our Liberty Girls’ Basketball team, helping us reach the state play-offs. She had four goals and four assists last season, but generates most of the plays that lead up to the team scoring. Ruby participated in the United States Coast Guard Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) Program this past summer as well. Ruby was a 3rd team EPC player in the fall.

Tula Sobrinski: (Junior) Tula was a 3rd team EPC player as well, amassing 8 goals and 5 assists in the fall. She is a tremendous athletes and has a great work ethic in the classroom and on the field. Interestingly there are four girls and they are all dominant hockey players. Tula is the eldest of the four, followed by her sister, Zoey, who will be a freshman this season. Tula will play both forward line and midfield.

Cai Bardsley-Cutler: (Goalie) Cai has been our varsity goalie for the past two seasons and will most likely be our starting goalie. We have four great goalies, which is nice to have, because three of them play club and Cai is doing a great job as a leader. She will make impressive saves all season and has a great voice for leadership in the backfield. Has 3 shut-outs last season.

Julianna Zumas: (Sophomore) Julianna is an all around athlete. She makes a great tandem with Ellis Corr. Both of these athletes are present in the weight room all off-season; they work to enhance their fitness after practices, they’ll still go out and run a few miles. Julianna is a player with whom I suggested also runs cross country as a dual athlete in the fall. We are hoping to make this work with her.

Ellis Corr: (Sophomore): Ellis had so much poise as a freshman last season, she does everything that she is told from a perspective of in the moment coaching. She single handedly scored the winning goal in overtime last season to help us nab a play-off berth against Northampton. It was a 40 yards play and at the end, she nailed a beautiful shot after beating the last defender and scored on Northampton’s stellar GK.

*Both Julianna and Ellis will start as two center forwards because they work so well off of one another.

Ava George: (Junior) Ava is the type of player that I can put anywhere and she will never tire, always gives every ounce of effort. She will take over for Sarah Fitzpatrick in the center/fullback position. Ava scored 2 goals and had one assist last season, playing as a defender. She is scrappy and reads the plays well. Although incredibly fast, she knows when to be patient.

Malia Lockhart (Junior): Malia will get a steady role starting this season. She played midfield primarily last season since we graduated senior defenders, Malia will now take the helm in the backfield. She is calculated, and commits to the play. She is a great all-around athlete and we are excited to have her start in the backfield this upcoming season.

Ava Sabetti (Senior): Ava has played at the varsity level and started last fall as a forward. She transitioned to a defender this summer and is doing a tremendous job. She has a great deal of experience on this team, continues to improve upon her leadership skills.

Key Newcomers:
Emily Tavares (Junior) Midfield
Cozette Frack (Junior) Defender/Forward
Abigail Mayes (Sophomore) GK
Aubrey Wylie-Neith (Senior) GK
Emerson Dougherty (Freshman) Midfield
Danielle Walz (Senior) Defender
Izabella Mowrer (Junior) Defender
Erika Broesicke (Sophomore) Defender
Genesis Duran (Senior) Defender
Nini Nguyen (Junior) Forward

2023 Outlook: I anticipate that we will find a good chemistry rather quickly. The attitudes of the girls from playing together in lacrosse and being so tight knit will be an advantage. There is a nice mix of experienced players who have seen varsity time, along with a mix of young players who will work hard to put themselves into the line-up. That type of atmosphere could produce great results. The team has made conditioning more of priority in their off-season, it will be a point of emphasis to have success early on.
