Coaches Comments: Derek Troxell is an extremely intelligent, hardworking, talented, athlete and in a particular basketball player. He has been playing Varsity since 9th grade and has been a starter since 10th grade.
He is a team player and a team leader who never misses practice, never misses a game, and is always looking for ways to improve.
He has been a tireless worker throughout his high school career. He is constantly working out with my son James lifting weights, doing individual basketball training drills, and cardio workouts. He puts in the time and effort.
He is a student of the game. He is our quarterback on the court. He knows where everyone is supposed to be and directs traffic. Derek is like an extra coach on the court.
He has worked tirelessly on his jump shot and has improved his jump shot each and every year.
He plays ALL aspects of the game. He can shoot, pass, dribble, rebound, set picks. etc… He does anything we ask of him and he does it well.
Derek is 297 points shy of 1,000. Hopefully, with the situation, we are in, he will get the opportunity to get the 1,000 points.
However, Derek has never, ever mentioned that to us as coaches, has never brought it up to us, and has never made that a priority. He is and always has been about the success of the team first. He epitomizes what a team player is and how to act.
Derek is the ultimate team player.
Derek’s game has steadily improved every single year he has played. He has become quicker and faster and stronger as well.
He never takes a playoff and is constantly hustling and doing whatever is needed to win a game.
