Jim Thorpe’s run game, carries them past Minersville at Olympian Stadium

JIM THORPE — The Olympians’ running game, featuring Dominic Kiehl (24), was dominant, combining for six touchdowns as Jim Thorpe defeated Minersville 42-10 at Olympian Stadium.

The ground-and-pound game plan was established with a touchdown on the opening drive and continued throughout the contest, as the Battlin’ Miners had no answer for the Olympians’ rushing attack.

Jim Thorpe took a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter after adding another rushing touchdown. The second quarter featured a steady diet of more of the same, as the Olympians found the end zone twice more on the ground to take a commanding 28-0 lead into halftime.

The second verse was the same as the first to start the second half, with a 45-yard touchdown run extending Jim Thorpe’s lead to 35-0 in the third quarter.

After falling behind 42-0, the Battlin’ Miners showed some late fight. John Lutsky scored on a 15-yard touchdown run, and Jordan Bowers added an impressive 42-yard field goal to bring the game to its final score of 42-10.
