Nazareth Basketball Falls to Easton in Final Round of Rotary Classic

The Nazareth boys and girls basketball teams headed back to Easton Area Middle School for the final round of the Easton Rotary Classic Tournament. Both squads were bested by the Red Rovers, the girls by a score of 35-51 and the boys by a score of 54-72. Kelly Leszcynski led the Lady Blue Eagles in scoring with 13 points, three of those being behind the three point arc. This wasn’t enough to stop Easton’s Cassidy Saylor though, as she led the Red Rovers with 25 points to help secure the win. The Blue Eagles did have two all-tournament players, however, in Talya Brugler and Leszcynski, who was also named tournament MVP.

On the boys side, Zach Umar found the basket ten times, as he dropped 18 points, along with seven rebounds. This was no match for Easton’s Ryan Boylan, however, as he racked up 30 points and was deservingly named the tournament MVP. Boylan, along with Nashawn Johnson were named all-tournament players for the Red Rovers. Nazareth’s Umar, who had 38 combined points from the last two games, was also named an all-tournament player. Both the boys and girls squads from Nazareth fought their way into the final games of the Easton Rotary Classic, but the hometown teams from Easton found a way to get it done against the Blue Eagles.
