North Schuylkill Sails Past Pine Grove

There was a different feel as the North Schuylkill Spartans took the field to take on the Pine Grove Cardinals on September 18, 2020. No fans, only the band and cheerleaders to support the team.

The Cardinals were the first to score with a 31-yard TD pass to Shea Morgan from Josh Leininger. They led the Spartans 7-0 after the first quarter.

Momentum quickly shifted to the Spartans in the second as Jaxson Chowansky blocked a Cardinal punt which was recovered by Jared Tinari for a Spartan TD with 9:04 left in the first half. Pine Grove answered back as Leininger connected with Dalton Geesey to make the score 13-7.

Four minutes later, North Schuylkill added another score as Jake Hall threw 51 yards to Tanner Walacavge. Not long after, Hall connected with Dylan Dietz in the end zone to put the Spartans up 21-13 at the end of the first half.

The second half was dominated by North Schuylkill. Josh Chowansky put the Spartans up 28-13 with 10:40 in the third with a 23 yard TD run. The Cardinals answered back six minutes later with another TD.

The Spartans went on to score two unanswered TDs in the fourth. Hall connected with Walacavage for his second of the night and with Joey Flail.

North Schuylkill beat Pine Grove 41-19 in an exciting game. Next week, the Spartans (2-0) take on Blue Mountain (1-1) at home. Pine Grove (0-2) takes on Jim Thorpe (2-0) at home.
