Palisades Pirates Are Ready For The Next Level

The first month of 2021 has brought the beginning of fall sports for Palisades High School, as well as multiple college commitments and achievements.

On January 9, star and captain of the Palisades girls basketball team, Trinity Williams, reached a milestone goal of 1,000 career points. This was a huge accomplishment for Williams’ basketball career and it was achieved just under two minutes after the team’s game with Faith Christian was underway. She finished the game with an impressive 41 points to help carry her team to victory. Williams is just the eighth girls’ basketball player for Palisades to ever achieve this accomplishment with the last being Karlee Krchnavi back in 2015. Last November, Trinity had formally committed to continue her basketball career at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and in January 23rd’s game against Notre Dame, she earned the Player of the Game. Additionally, Williams was the Morning Call’s Athlete of the Week winner for the week of January 21.

Palisades’ wrestling took a tough loss on January 9 against Brandywine Heights to begin their season and has had six matches since. The team seems to be getting better and better with each match and were 3-1 before yesterday’s multiple school match. Palisades senior, Austin Winters, is a huge part of the team’s upswing, and he is hoping to carry his team to states. It was Palisades Wrestling’s senior night on January 23.

In the last week, two of Palisades’ football players have made commitments to continue playing football after they graduate in the spring. Zach Smith, one of the team’s leaders this year, committed to Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. He is now a part of the Ursinus Football Class of 2025. Also, running back, Mason Smeland, committee, showcasing his tremendous playing last fall.

The Palisades girls’ basketball team’s senior night was January 21, where they won 47-20 over Pen Argyl. Next up for Palisades, the boys wrestling team will compete on Monday away at Northwestern Lehigh. The boys’ basketball team will host Wilson on Tuesday and the girl’s team will travel to Wilson for their 6:45pm game. There are more Palisades winter sports ahead, so keep a lookout!
