Palisades Softball Team Preview

The District 11 softball season is well underway after beginning games last week. The Palisades softball team is ready to play and show the other schools in their league that they are ready to compete. The team has a mix of younger and older players with five seniors, two juniors, and a whole lot of sophomores and freshmen. Though the team does have some experience, their sophomores did miss all of last season due to COVID-19, making the team very split with half of the team having experience at a Varsity level, and the other half without any.

The starting Opening Day lineup:
Catcher: Kyleigh Davis, Senior
Pitcher: Julianna Flanagan, Freshman
1st Base: Brooke Gerhardt, Senior
2nd Base: Katie Cooper, Senior
Shortstop: Ashley Amato, Sophomore
3rd Base: Katie Carson, Freshman
Right Field: Chesney Mosher, Freshman
Center Field: Allie Wenskoski, Junior
Left Field: Jemma Amato, Senior

With having no JV team this year, the Varsity team is a decent size: 16 girls. The team has already played a scrimmage and two games. Their scrimmage was against Faith Christian which Palisades won, 15-4. Then, on March 26, the Pirates lost their first game 12-4 against Notre Dame Green Pond. They additionally lost their next game on March 30 against Wilson. The final score was 26-21 with Palisades showing their bats, but lacking with their fielding.

The team will be playing 18 games total with their next game against Executive. Their senior night is Monday, May 10 against Saucon.
