Phillipsburg Basketball Advances in the NJSIAA Playoffs

The Phillipsburg girls hosted Woodbridge High School for round one of the NJSIAA playoffs. At the end of the first quarter, Woodridge led 19 to 14. Phillipsburg closed the gap in the second quarter but still trailed 33 to 32. At the end of the third quarter, Woodridge led by only one point, 47 to 46.

Phillipsburg managed to pull out the victory in the last quarter. The final score was PBurg 70, Woodridge 59. Phillipsburg was led by Amanda Rapel with 24 points.

The Phillipsburg boys hosted Bayonne. At the end of the first quarter, both teams were tied with 12 a piece. Bayonne led 25 to 23 at the end of the second quarter. PBurg pulled ahead in the third quarter, 38 to 32.

The final score was Phillipsburg 64, Bayonne 55. PBurg was led by Matthew Scerbo Jr. who had 20 points.

Both teams will advance to the next round of the NJSIAA playoffs.
