Phillipsburg Football opens the season up strong against DelBarton

The Phillipsburg Stateliners opened up their football season with a scrimmage at home against Delbarton. Phillipsburg, who went 8-3 last season, started out a little rusty trailing in the first half 17-7 after Delbarton started off strong with a pair of touchdowns and a field goal try.

During halftime, Phillipsburg’s head Coach, Frank Duffy, reminded the boys what they needed to do and who they were. Everything fell right back into place. Things quickly became easy for the Liners and the stingy defensive line would not let Delbarton come anywhere near the endzone the rest of the game. Things started to connect on offense as well as they finished with a score of 34-17.

A promising start is ahead for this season for the Stateliners! Their first game is away at Hunterdon Central on October 2nd.
