Spartans Defeat Panthers in Home Opener

The story of the North Schuylkill Spartans home opener was a tale of two halves 0f basketball. The first half being a low scoring defensive affair. While the second half turned into a high scoring offensive showcase. In the end, the Spartans walked away victorious over the Panther Valley squad.

Turnovers and great defense defined the first quarter as both teams combined for total of 24 points. The score came out in favor of the Spartans 16-8. Jack Dean provided 6 of the 16.

Scoring points proved even more difficult to come by in the second quarter with both teams scoring for a combined nine points. The score at the half was 20-13 in favor of North Schuylkill.

Next up came an offensive explosion in the game. The Spartans would score 20 to pad their lead in the third while only allowing 11 points defensively.

Jack Keiter scored 23 points in the game. All 23 came in the second half and allowed the Spartans to pull away in the fourth. Zane Zulkowski scored 17 while adding five steals defensively. The Spartans coasted to the win with the final score of 60-36.
