Strong Second Half leads Nazareth Area to 57-48 win at Bethlehem Catholic

BETHLEHEM – Nazareth Girls Basketball (3-0) outscored Bethlehem Catholic (0-4) 36 to 26 in the second half in a 57-48 win over the Golden Hawks in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Northampton County Division matchup Saturday night.

Leading the way was senior Talya Brugler. She took over the second half, scoring 22 of her 24 points including 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Brugler is two points away from breaking her sister Tessa’s all time scoring numbers. She has scored 1,373 points in her career.

In the first half it, was Junior Kourtney Wilson and Keyara Walters who led the way for the Golden Hawks. Wilson finished the game with 23 points.

Senior Makenna Fortner of Nazareth led all scorers in the first half. She scored 10 of her 12 points in the half.

Also, after a slow start in the first half, Junior Kelly Leszcynski finished the night scoring 14 points.

Up next for the Golden Hawks is a home game against Liberty Tuesday night at 7pm. The Blue Eagles host Freedom Thursday night at 7pm.
