The Blue Bombers take home the Colonial League Championship with an impressive showing

The Colonial League held their Golf Championships on Monday at the Bethlehem Golf Club and Palmerton brought their “A”game. Not only did they capture the team title but also the top three finishers.

The day was dominated by the Blue Bombers, with Tyler Hager shooting a 2-over par 73 to win the individual Boys title. He beat his teammate Josh Suto by two strokes, with Suto shooting a 4-over 75. But Palmerton wasn’t done yet, as Connor Reinhard tied for third with Evan Eichenlaub of Moravian Academy and defending champion Ben Ortwein of Notre Dame Green Pond, who all shot 7-over 78.

A special couple of days for Hager, who also captured the Lehigh Valley Junior Amateur Championship on Saturday at Green Pond Country Club. Palmerton ended with a team score of 306, which was twenty strokes better than defending champion Moravian Academy (326) and Southern Lehigh (332).

On the girls’ side, Grace Sanborn of Moravian Academy captured her third straight Colonial League championship, shooting a 13-over 84, which was two strokes better than Emma Shelby of Saucon Valley (86). Both are headed to the District tournament, with the qualifying round set for Olde Homestead on Monday, October 5. It will be followed by the District Xi Golf Championships on Wednesday, October 7, at Steel Club in Hellertown.
