Key Stats: The Cavaliers averaged 37.4 points per game in 2019 and returns 9 starters including: QB Will Fish (1,538 passing yards, 20 TDs), RB Christian Arrington (1,229 rushing yards, 19 TDs), WR Christian Sapp (43 catches, 795 yards receiving, 12 receiving TDs, 2 passing TDs, 232 rushing yards), WR Evan Roche (34 catches, 494 yards, 6 TDs), H-Back/WR Chris Cacace (17 catches, 4 TDs) and 3 offensive linemen.
The Cavalier defense had 3 shutout victories last season, one against rival Stroudsburg. The Cavalier defense returns 8 starters including both linebackers Chris Cacace and Kirk Young. The Cavalier secondary returns Christian Sapp, Evan Roche, DJ Lindor, and Vinny Doyle.
2020 Offensive Outlook: The Cavalier offense returns their offensive backfield at QB and RB as well as 3 of 4 wide receivers. 3 Offensive linemen return (Myles McHugh, Stephen Shanley, Luke Fulmer) and will have talent and depth to fill in the remaining two spots up front. The Cavalier offense will look to improve on their 37.4 points per game from the 2019 season by looking at growing depth at the skill positions while filling in the vacated spots up front from graduating seniors Jordan Fernandez, Brandon Boushell, and Nick Markowski. Preparing the younger players to quickly be added to our depth offensively will be important for a successful season.
2020 Defensive Outlook: The Cavalier defense returns 4 defensive backs (Christian Sapp, DJ Lindor, Evan Roche, Vinny Doyle) and both linebackers (Chris Cacace and Kirk Young) for the 2020 season. Preparing a young defensive front will be crucial in the success of the defense with the premise of stopping the run.
2020 Special Teams Outlook: Senior kicker Hunter Gilmore returns for his senior season. Last season, Hunter broke the Cavalier record for most extra points in a season with 59. Christian Sapp returns to return punts and kicks. He returned 2 punts for touchdowns last season.
