This past Tuesday, December 6th, Parkland Swimming and Diving officially kicked off their 22-23 season with their first dual meet against East Stroudsburg South. The Lady Trojans claimed their first victory of the season with a score of 126-39, and the men’s team took down East Stroudsburg South 148-30. It was exciting to watch the teams get back in the water and see where the swimmers are at.
Leading the way for the girls team was freshman Milla Hahn and senior Simone Lin who both won two individual events. Hahn finished first in the 200 IM (2:15.10) and the 100 breast (1:10.57), and Lin came out on top in the 200 free (2:02.71) and 500 free (5:28.14). They both also joined their teammates to contribute to two relay victories. Junior Madison Roseman added a victory to this list in the 50 free with a time of 26.09. Freshman Taylor Coombe put up a great performance in the 100 fly and finished in a time of 1:06.16. Teammate Kelsey McPeek earned two second place finishes in the 50 free and 100 breast in her high school debut.
As for the boys side, sophomore Pedro Teran won both of his individual events, the 200 free (1:56.37) and 500 free (5:13.38). Sophomore Gabe Krizel added to the individual event wins in the 200 IM (2:10.00). The boys 50 free was a great race to watch where senior Anshul Dadayyapally went a 23.77, just out touching fellow senior Marcus Moreef who went a 23.81. In the boys 100 fly, sophomore Colton Chung claimed first in a time of 57.30. The 100 free followed where junior Dannik Khais pulled off a 52.54 to win the race. Senior Blaine Christ won the 100 breast in a time of 1:07.67 to close out the individual races. As for the men’s diving, senior Ryan Beltrame grabbed first for Parkland with a score of 194.10.
Both the Parkland men and women’s teams advanced to 1-0 as they had a great showing for their first meet of the season. The swimmers are looking forward to continue to drop times and strive for their end goals. The next meet for the Parkland Trojans will be on Tuesday, December 13, away at Pocono Mountain West at 4pm.
