EASTON – On a warm Saturday afternoon, Pen Argyl’s first possession, was a 16-play, 80 yard drive. Caiden Faust finished the drive with a one-yard touchdown run. The Green Knights never looked back.
As good as the offense was, it was the defense that shined. Pen Argyl’s defense gave up 28 total yards of offense in a 43-0 shutout win over Wilson Area at Smith Field.
“We had a good week of practice,” said Head Coach Brady Mutton. “It showed today. We just have to get better each week.”
After going up 7-0, the Green Knights recovered an onside kick. It took seven plays to get on the scoreboard again. Soos scored from five yards out. They led 15-0 after a two-point conversion by Faust.
Mason also threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Zachary Metzgar in the quarter. Also, Metzgar added a ten-yard touchdown right before halftime.
The Green Knights led 29-0 at halftime.
The second half, Soos found Faust for 21 yards for a touchdown. With that touchdown the remaining second half was played with a running clock.
Soos finished the game passing/rushing for over 100 yards each and three touchdowns.
The Green Knights added one more score. Faust scored from seven yards out early in the fourth quarter. Faust finished the game with 97 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
“I really appreciate my offensive line,” said Faust. “I couldn’t do this without them.”
