The softball game had last years players on the Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup 2025 team against the against this years team. It was a tuneup game heading into the Softball Carpenter Cup tournament on Tuesday.
The Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup softball team jumped out to a fast start, but a big fifth inning by CRPN proved to be the difference in a 9-5 loss Wednesday evening in Carpenter Cup 2025 action.
Lehigh Valley came out swinging early, plating three runs in the opening inning to take control. After a scoreless second and third inning, the squad added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but could not recover from a seven-run explosion by CRPN in the fifth inning that turned the momentum of the game.
Lehigh Valley finished with 12 hits in the contest and showed offensive balance throughout the lineup.
JoJo Siegfried sparked the offense, scoring three runs while reaching base three times, including a hit, two walks and a stolen base. Peyton Besecker had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Mari Eiswerth delivered one of the biggest performances offensively and in the circle. Eiswerth went 3-for-3 with an RBI and also tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three.
Sydney Ryan added an RBI hit, while Gianna Menecola finished with a hit and RBI. Riley Gable helped her own cause with an RBI double, and Morgan Schwab, Tessa Kemmerer and Sydney Bennett each contributed hits in the effort.
Lehigh Valley’s defense battled through adversity despite three errors in the contest. Menecola turned in a big extra-base hit with a triple, while doubles from Siegfried, Eiswerth and Gable highlighted the offensive attack.
In the circle, Riley Gable worked four innings in relief, striking out three batters. Despite the setback, Lehigh Valley continued to battle offensively, tallying five runs and 12 hits against a tough Carpenter Cup opponent.
After building an early 3-0 lead, Lehigh Valley saw CRPN chip away before the decisive fifth inning changed the game. CRPN finished with 11 hits and was led by a balanced offensive effort in the 9-5 victory.
