Head Coach: Jill Dorn (24 years coaching: 16 Pocono Mt. East, 1 Pleasant Valley, 7
Liberty High School)
Assistant Coach: Emily Zamaniyan
Assistant Coach/JV Coach: Tricia Wilson
Volunteer Coach: Kelly Cornwell
Volunteer Coach: Paige Gross
Key Returning players:
SENIOR: Julianna Zumas: 2nd Team EPC Player Last Season. Committed to Rider University where former LHS stand-out Sarah Fitzpatrick will be a junior. Julianna is part of a tremendous midfield and is certainly a catalyst for our speed. She makes others work hard around her, great leadership skills and extremely coachable. Always acknowledges and sets her teammates up for success. Great field vision and hockey intelligence. Indoor track and field and lax athlete at LIberty as well.
SENIOR: Ellis Corr: Stand out Lacrosse and Indor Track athletes as well, Ellis is the complimentary equal to Julianna. You cannot compare the two without categorizing the fact that we have two athletes who know how to use tempo. They both are the daily reminders of our team of where we set the bar with hustle. Ellis is committed to Gardner Webb for lax.
SENIOR: Abigail Mayes: Abigail is another three-sport athlete; in fact is a dual-sport athlete within the same season. She has been our starting goalie for the past three seasons (sharing time with a tremendous sophomore goalie: Lunabelle Rivas-Alarcon); while also experiencing success in doubles tennis previous seasons in the EPC. Abigail’s mom was a stand out tennis player at Kutztown University and her dad is the Principal at Whitehall High School. We are fortunate to have Whitehall on our schedule, back-to-back, on September 6th and September 9th! Abigail manages a rigorous fall schedule. Her hopes are to attend either Bloomsburg or Kutztown, potentially to play lacrosse.
SENIOR: Lily Weaver: Lily Weaver has been the steadfast ideal teammate and Liberty Field Hockey model for off-season along with how you can improve with hard work dedication on the field and in the weight room. She’s incredibly involved and academic, a cerebral player who is probably one of the fast athletes on the field. She never tires. Lily has somewhat of a quiet demeanor; however she never plays that way.
JUNIOR: Emerson Dougherty: Emerson was featured this summer as the stunt double for “Reese”, the main character in the movie, “The Next Play”, which was partially filmed at Liberty High School. Her individual skill and open- shooting ability makes her own statement, a very talented athlete. She works in the center of the field and along with Julianne, Ellis, and Lily, she carves out a lot of our offense and attack but all of them gather back nicely for defense.
Returning Offensive Players/Goal Scorers:
Sarah Heidecker (SENIOR)-Came in off-the-bench last season and scored pivotal goals
Maddie Roy (SOPHOMORE)-Started multiple games as a freshman amassing four
goals
Lillianne Medaska (JUNIOR)- One of the leading causes of goal scoring comes from her precise passing and field movement as an inner
Olivia Zsilavecz (JUNIOR)- Olivia is a smart player inside the goal, especially from the left wing area
Returning Defenders:
Maddy Orlicki (JUNIOR)- Great leadership, extremely vocal returning starter
Olivia Romero (SENIOR)- strong hitting, knows how to be patient and distribute
Adrianna O’Neill (SENIOR)- stand out softball player at LHS, brings great knowledge of multiple sports
Back-Up Goalie:
Lunabelle (Luna) Rivas-Alarcon (SOPHOMORE) **Fun to watch, will split game time with Abigail and may play full games if Abigail’s tennis schedule were to conflict outside of plan. Luna is one of the most involved and yet mindful and outwardly relaxed kids. She is in competitive dance/baton, she is a member of the cross-county team, and is also in the Marching Band – all in the fall!
Newcomers:
Layla Hernandez (SOPHOMORE)- Plays all off-season, biggest turnaround player. Will see her name with statistics. (Also runs Cross Country in the Fall/Track and Field Runner in Spring)
Sophie Terry (SOPHOMORE)- Offensive experience as freshman last season, tremendous growth, can play outside forward and midfield. Track and Field runner.
Madison Miller (SOPHOMORE)- Another athlete who put in club time in the off-season who will contribute to us as a midfielder with great speed. Madison Cornwell (FRESHMAN)- Very highly developed sense of game management and field vision, will play in the midfield.
Fiona Trapp (FRESHMAN)- Both her and Madison are stand out players from Nitschmann and were depended on a lot. They are both able to very much flourish with a group and level of experience.
2025 Outlook: We are fortunate enough to have 35 players when we are hearing the news of many of our current opponents unable to field a junior varsity match. I’m hoping we can cover some of the opportunities we’ve created and run at BASD Stadium and surrounding areas, to help grow the game!
There’s an exciting atmosphere knowing the skill level and the connection of this team. Be it to belong, to be together, to compete, to keep the sport alive, to continue playing beyond high school; they have been collaborative and cohesive during a busy and short preseason. They are also incredibly involved and that is unbelievably respected and honored at Liberty High School. We have the right players for all the positions on the field, and we have the ability to mix up quarters and starters and keep competitive notions because there’s depth in our roster.
The key, especially in the beginning of the season, is developing all the game sense, awareness, and endurance that you know you will have at the end. We have players who are developing and running drills and working on defining leadership with true experience. Regardless of results, this team has been a pleasure to sit down and write a preview about.
