Key Players Lost:
Emma Wells, sprints, non-t & f related broken foot and out for the season
DJ Kelly, hurdler
Raph Wolf, jumper/sprints
Key Returning Players:
Milly Wolf, junior, had a breakout season last year, her first in the jumps, qualifying for States in the high jump with her second place finish in Districts.
Angie Braun, junior, last year’s team MVP, gained many points in both her jumping and sprinting events.
Amelia Michener, senior, remains a consistent point earner in the trhowing events.
Izzy Kehoe-Huck, senior, was injured for most of last year, has returned and is running well.
Clark Gulycz, senior, second in EPC, District XI 2A and States in shot put last year. Had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder over the summer and is now poised to have a big year.
Junior Duke Ebert qualified for States last year in the 1600 and had a good winter.
Lucas Mushrush, also a junior, has been a little banged up after the recently completed basketball season, but he is looking for a return to States after taking second place in Districts last season in the 800 meter run.
Senior Nasir Mclean remains not only one of our best sprinters, but he also remains steady presence when it comes to leadership.
Key Newcomers:
junior Ryleigh Van Beek could help a promising girls’ jumping team.
Jahrel Vigo, a junior, has come out this year and should help the jumpers. Once he gets the hang of it, junior Christian Connelly, will be fine in the hurdles
2024 Outlook: The throwers and jumpers both have been our strength in the preseason. Lots of talent in both disciplines. Our numbers are strong this season, 125 athletes, but many are young.
If they can continue to develop and be patient, they will provide much needed depth. In the sprints, especially, we are not all that deep and an injury or two could really hurt us.
