Key Players Lost:
Genesis Almodovar (2nd singles)
Cat Grubb and Tori Temple (2nd doubles)
Claire Erhlich and Catharine D’Agostini (3rd doubles)
Ellie Sweterlitch and Maggie Lynch (4th doubles)
Laura Pharo and Eva Schlisler (doubles depth)
Key Returning Players:
Madelyn Groff (2 singles/sophomore) – Maddie was a top 6 no1 singles player in the EPC last season and a doubles district champion. She would be the no1 singles player for most teams. She has continued to improve her game and work hard. She will strive to be the best no2 singles player in the league this season.
Valentina Munoz (3 singles/sophomore) – Val was one of the top girls at 3 singles last year. She would be the no2 singles on a lot of teams, and even the no1 on some. She worked hard on her game all offseason. Her goal is to be the best no3 singles player in the EPC.
Noemi Quiros, Katelee Bui, Ella Odenthal (doubles/seniors) – they would have started last year on a lot of teams, but getting their first crack in the starting lineup this year for us. They bring experience and senior leadership. They will help form the backbone of our doubles lineups.
Julia Janis, Carly Eisenhard, Giada Montone, Mia Muir, Michaela Durie (doubles/sophomores) – They have all worked very hard over the offseason and bring a lot of excitement and potential to our doubles lineups.
Adia Harbert, Isabella de Gale, and Ella Kiefer (seniors/doubles depth) – provide senior leadership and great doubles depth. Would start on a lot of teams. Ready when called upon.
Key Newcomers: Bernadette Gasser (1 singles/freshmen) – excited to have Bernadette join our strong young team. She has been training hard the past year and comes into high school with plenty of tournament experience. She earned the no1 spot through a series of tough challenge matches this past week.
Charlotte Hood (doubles/freshmen) – another strong freshmen who enters her high school career. Worked hard this past summer in anticipation of joining the team. She’s ready to be a starter in doubles and help contribute to the team right away.
Izabella Waz, Elizabeth Alvarado, Samantha Landry (juniors) and Emma de Gale (sophomore) – all made varsity and provide a ton of doubles depth. They will continue to work hard this season in preparation of being potential starters down the road.
2024 Outlook: Our goal remains the same, a top 5 finish in the EPC, a top 3 seed in 2A districts, reach the the district finals and compete for a district title. I think this team can accomplish all of that.
Our major strength is our singles lineup. Adding a freshmen player in Bernadette who earned the no1 singles spot, along with returning two sophomores in Maddie and Val who had tremendously successful seasons last year as freshmen at singles gives us a strong core. We feel we match up with anyone in terms of our singles lineup, which gives us a great chance in every match we play.
Our biggest question mark is our doubles. We graduated our entire doubles lineup from a year ago. However, we have lots of potential between first year senior starters and talented sophomores and freshmen. We are still sorting out the doubles combos, as we have about 10-12 girls competing for those 6-8 spots. They have the potential to gel and develop over the course of the season making us strong on every court we play.
