This is something that Bangor hadn’t done for years. They were making history. The bus ride down was a quiet one. Everyone, coaches included, was very quiet, getting their minds ready for the game.
When they arrived at the school, they put on their game faces and the excitement was building up. The boys warmed up and got a pep talk from the coaches before they were off to play.
Right from the get-go, the game was very intense and extremely fast-paced. Within the first few minutes of the game, the first point for Bangor was scored by the recent 1,000 point earner, CJ Miles. By the end of the first quarter, Bangor was leading Archbishop Ryan 13-12. The second quarter was just as swift as the first and ended with a score of 26-17 with Archbishop Ryan leading Bangor.
In the third quarter, Justin Peterson came through for the team with a three-pointer and a two-pointer. All the points Bangor scored in the third quarter still weren’t enough to get them ahead. The third quarter ended with Archbishop Ryan still beating Bangor with a score of 48-30. Bangor did not give up and they still gave the game their all. The ending score was 60-40 with a win for Archbishop Ryan.
On the ride home, Coach Kessler told the boys that he was proud of them regardless and that he did not want them to be too hard on themselves for not winning. Their hard work and determination paid off and they are ready to go even further next season!
