Blue Mountain Golf Team Off to Hot Start

The Blue Mountain Golf Team opened up the 2020 season with an away match against Jim Thorpe at Jack Frost National Golf Course on Thursday August 27th. Eager for another league championship, the Eagles were led by junior Connor Ghergel (77) and senior Derrick Yuengling (80). The two contributing scores for the Eagles were from seniors Brady Faust (84) and Preston Sincavage (89). Ed Weaver was the low man for the Olympians with a 117. The Eagles consistency within their top four players led them to a 330 to 491 victory.

Twelve hours after arriving home from Jack Frost, the Eagles were back at Schuylkill Country Club, ready to square off against the Indians from Lehighton Area. Derrick Yuengling was the low scorer for the match with a 3 over 75 on the card. Following behind for the Eagles were Connor Ghergel (78), Preston Sincavage (86), and Dan Morrow (92). Jack Lorenz shot an 8 over 80 to lead the Indians for the match. Ghergel and Yuengling’s rounds in the 70’s were key for the Eagles to pull away with a 331-356 victory. The Eagles have a full slate next week as they have three matches on the week. They’ll open up the week Monday with an away match against Lourdes Regional at Indian Hills Golf Course, then will be at home Wednesday against North Schuylkill and will close out the week Friday at Mountain Valley against rival Pottsville Area.
