Parkland and Central Catholic open up the East Penn Conference Golf Season

On Thursday afternoon, Parkland and Central Catholic hit the links at Allentown Municipal golf course for the first East Penn Conference match of the season. The Vikings had three players score in the 70s with Nathan Myers leading the way shooting a 71. Aaron Janis shot a 77 and Charlie Long shot a 78 leading Central Catholic to the 391-448 win over the Trojans.

Parkland, meanwhile, was led by James Kelly, who finished with a round of 81 and Nicholas Atlas carded an 83. Both Head Coaches, Jim Krupka of Central Catholic and Ryan Kilpatrick of Parkland were excited to get the season underway.

Kilpatrick said, “It felt great to get them out there, great day and great weather. Getting out here on a different course playing against a different team was awesome and they had a great time.” Krupka said, “This is my 22nd year and it’s a pleasure to coach. Players are great- they are not only good golfers but mostly are good academians. It’s been a fun time and with everything that we’re going through with the Covid, it’s nice to see the sports kind of kick off. “

Other scores for Central Catholic: Nolan Russo 81, Joey Duffy 84. For Parkland: Alex Doe 90, Gabriel Dimbeck 95, Logan Leibenguth 99.

Next up for Central Catholic will be Liberty on Monday afternoon, with Parkland squaring off with Whitehall on Tuesday.
