Catasauqua Boy’s Basketball Gets Close Win Over Palmerton

The Catasauqua Boy’s Hoops were back in action tonight at home against Palmerton. Palmerton was hoping to keep up their winning streak while Catty was looking to fix where they went wrong after Wednesday’s rough loss to Salisbury.

It was a pretty slow first quarter for Catty, while Palmerton took control. The score at the end of quarter one was 12-4 Palmerton.

Things really started to pick up in the second quarter where Catty scored 20 points and Palmerton only scored eight. The Roughs went into halftime leading 24-20.

This gave them hope for the second half and chances of a second win. The third quarter was a pretty close quarter for each team. Both teams were tied up at 35 a piece to end the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was very close. It was back and forth and the idea of overtime seemed possible. Both teams fouled each other and it was back and forth at the line. Roughs held on and were able to get a close 45-43 win over Palmerton this evening.

Palmerton’s Justin Hosier led the team with a high of 17 points. For the Roughs, Derek George had 14 points to help lead them to a victory. I talked to George after the game and asked him for his thoughts on the game. He was happy with the game and the outcome. “It was a great game,” said George. “We do need to improve on rebounding and boxing out.”

I was also able to speak with Catasauqua’s head Coach Eric Snyder after the game as well. He was impressed with the defense tonight, but sees where the team needs improvement. “We need to make layups,” said Snyder. “We also have to work on our foul shots, but I was happy with the defense tonight, they did a great job.”

The boys are back at it tomorrow playing Notre Dame East Stroudsburg at home. The game is set for 1:15pm.
