The Pennsylvania Football Writers named their top players today in Class 3A. North Schuylkill led the way with three players and Pine Grove had two.
North Schuylkill’s Quarterback Jake Hall completed 104 of 191 passes for 1,783 yards and 25 touchdowns. He rushed for nine touchdowns and his team won the District 11 3A District title. His team finished 8-0.
Josh Chowansky rushed for 1,260 yards on 137 carries and 11 touchdowns. He had three touchdowns receiving. He may have saved the best for last rushing for 252 yards in the District 11 semifinal game. He had 266 yards and four touchdowns in the District finals.
Offensive Tackle Dustin Wallace was the leader on the offensive line that produced 1,944 yards rushing and 3,371 total yards.
Pine Grove’s duo led the way for the Cardinals. Shea Morgan led the Schuylkill League in receiving with 64 receptions for 1,019 yards and 12 touchdowns in 10 games. He was also the Cardinal’s kicker, booting 19 conversion kicks and one field goal, scoring 108 points on season. As the punter, he averaged 33.8 per kick. Morgan finished as the school record-holder for receptions in a game (10), receptions in a season (64), career receptions (117) and receiving yards in a season (1,019).
On defense, Brody Robinson led the way. This Senior standout was everywhere on the field this season, racking up school-record 144 tackles and three sacks in 10 games. Had a school-record 26 tackles in game and another with 24.
Notre Dame Green Pond’s Matt Frauen Jr. was a beast at running back. He rushed for 1,313 yards and 21 touchdowns in eight games. This is the third consecutive year of 1,000 plus rushing yards. He also had three receiving touchdowns.
Salisbury’s Chad Parton set five school records (career catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns; season catches and receiving touchdowns), finished third in the state with 1,052 receiving yards on 58 catches (12 TD’s). He returned a kick for a TD, ran for a score, threw for a score, ran for four two-point conversions, had 51 tackles, five INTs (1 returned for TD) and one fumble recovery in eight games.
