Crusaders beat Pirates, 3-2

Thursday night the Palisades Girls’ tennis team traveled to Notre Dame Green Pond for an exciting match. Both teams already had a couple matches under their belt. Palisades had played Moravian, Pen Argyl, and Bangor already, whereas the Crusaders played Moravian, beat Saucon Valley and lost to Southern Lehigh.

The match was competitive for both teams with Notre Dame claiming the win. The final scores of each match were:

1st Singles: Kelly (P) vs. Lynn (ND), 6-0, 6-1
2nd Singles: Aherne (P) vs. Unger (ND), 6-2, 6-4
3rd Singles: Wenskoski (P) vs. Lencheski (ND), 6-3, 6-1
1st Doubles: Watson and Anderson (P) vs. Lopez and Kom (ND), 6-3, 6-1
2nd Doubles: Goggin and Rutesteen (P) vs. Ronca and Cardoza (ND), 6-3, 6-4

Notre Dame swept the singles matches in order to win the match with Palisades collecting both doubles wins.

Both teams have their next matches scheduled for Tuesday, 9/7. The Pirates are home against Southern Lehigh and the Crusaders are home against Salisbury.

On a personal note, this match was a special one for me. I met and played against Keiran Lencheski who is also a D11 Sports reporter! Though we were competitors on the court, it was amazing to come together off of the court and share our love for sports reporting from around District 11.
