District Gold for the Northwestern-Lehigh Girls soccer team

A great year for the Northwestern-Lehigh Girls Soccer team got better on Saturday afternoon at Parkland High School. The Tigers, who beat Southern Lehigh to capture the Colonial league title last month, added to their trophy case.

Northwestern got a goal by Senior captain Bailey Groff in the 6th minute and that proved to be enough lifting the Tigers to a 2-0 win over Central Catholic and in the process winning the District XI 2A Girls Soccer Championship.

Groff’s goal came off a corner kick and found the far right post for the early advantage. Then, with five minutes left in regulation, Kylie Zentz got loose for the insurance goal and the 2-0 win.

It’s the 4th District title in the last seven years for the Tigers and now they enter the PIAA tournament at 21-2, with action getting underway next week.
