Players to watch: Chris Hewey (Senior, 6’2″ Guard, 10ppg, 5rpg, 3apg, 2spg), Avery Hutchison (Senior, 6’1″ Guard) Kola Lysynecky (Junior, 6’7″ Center), Stephen Joseph (Senior, 6’2″ Forward), Jaden Johnson (Senior, 6’4″ Forward), Cole Transue (Junior, 6’2″ Guard), Austyn Lutes (Junior, 6’5″ Forward), Tarif Muhammad (Junior, 5’10” Guard), Richie Vaquero (Junior, 6’1″ Guard) Shaun LaBelle (Junior, 6’0″ Guard)
Questions: Besides the season itself??? After losing four starters from last year’s state playoff qualifying team, can the Red Rovers find enough new faces to surround Hewey with, and make a playoff push again? With lots of players new to the varsity level, I am concerned how the lack of consistent practice time, both in the offseason and preseason, will affect us this season. Looking for several new faces to help Hewey put points on the board after losing a lot of offensive firepower.
Outlook: We will be much bigger, but not as fast and quick as last season’s team. This will cause us to change our style of play slightly on both sides of the floor. We will most likely not be allowed to scrimmage or play non-league games, so we are going to make the most out of our ten scheduled Northampton County EPC league games.
Our goals are always the same: Make the EPC, District XI, and PIAA State Playoffs, and contend for championships in each of them. We have a lot of new faces who are eager to prove what they can do at the varsity level, which makes the coaching staff very optimistic.
