Easton Girls Soccer extends win streak with impressive win over Pleasant Valley

On October 3rd, 2024, the Easton Red Rovers faced off against the Pleasant Valley Bears in girls’ soccer at Easton Area High School. Both teams sported their pink uniforms to show support for breast cancer awareness. The Rovers, looking to add to their win streak, took the game by storm as they cruised to a 4-0 victory. This victory will likely prove significant as Coach Hall’s Rovers strive to make a run for a high seed in the playoffs.

Both teams got off to a slow start, but the Rovers struck first as freshman Bianca Yetta scored Easton’s first goal off of a tap-in. Easton made sure that Pleasant Valley did not have any room to gain momentum as their defense shut down any advances that Pleasant Valley attempted. The defense, led by juniors Julia Cohen and Taylor Harper looked strong in the shutout, making stop after stop and only allowing a few shots on goal. After the game, Cohen said, “We really just tried to take it minute by minute and work as a team to limit the amount of shots they were able to take.”

Easton struck again in the second half as Bianca Yetta added to her already impressive performance by scoring her second goal of the game. Pleasant Valley stood no chance against the Rover’s elite passing tactics and speed. Additionally, Coach Hall’s enthusiasm and communication from the sidelines, clearly played a role in the Rover’s dominant game.

Throughout the second half, the Bear’s luck did not change as Easton continued to outperform them. Easton’s Lexi Lively tacked on the Rover’s third goal of the game to extend the lead. Easton continued to have numerous shots on goal in the second half. Nonetheless, Pleasant Valley did not give up until the final whistle. But with 15 minutes left in the game, Sarah Pulcini snuffed out the last hopes for the Bears as she scored the fourth goal of the game for Easton.

Easton looks to carry the momentum from this win to Monday’s game against East Stroudsburg North. The Rovers are the clear favorite in the game as East Stroudsburg North, who only has two wins this season. Although they have a favorable matchup on Monday, this will not be the case for Wednesday’s game. Easton will face one of their toughest opponents all year as they play their senior night game vs. Nazareth. Despite their shaky start to the season, is it possible that Coach Hall’s Rovers could make a deep run into the playoffs?
