The 5’9 twins that were four year varsity level basketball stars at Freedom High School are headed to the post graduate school Springfield Commonwealth Academy.
Malek and Caleb were the glue that put the patriots squad together. Their intense style of play led them to a 6A District 11 Championship in the 2019-2020 season which was the school’s first district championship in 44 years.
They both had different styles of play. Caleb was the lights out shooter, while Malek was the athletic finisher and aggressive defender. They had one thing in common, and it was scoring. They scored at will and made it look easy, while only being 5’9.
Caleb was the more abundant scorer. He led the EPC in scoring with 20.9 points per game, also scoring 18.6 points per game throughout his career. He led the team with 62 3-pointers and scored 520 points in his senior season. This is the second most points in a single season in schools history. He ended his career with 138 3-pointers and 1,201 career points, which is the second most in school’s history.
Malek was more of the type to get his points at the rim. In his senior season, he averaged the highest points per game of his career with 16.8. He finished with 1,119 career points, the third most in school history. Malek holds the single-season record for most steals in one season at 112. He has the most career steals in Freedom history with 270.
They both were awarded with Lehigh Valley Live and The Morning Call’s, 1st Team EPC and 2019-2020 boys basketball co-players of the year.
Caleb Mims was also awarded with the 2019-2020 3rd Team 6A All-State Boys Basketball Team.
Malek and Caleb Mims will be attending Springfield Commonwealth academy for the 2020-2021 school year. It is a private, middle and high school/Post graduate school in Springfield, Massachusetts.
