Hornets shut out Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley made the hour long drive to EPSD Stadium to take on Emmaus in week four. Emmaus came into this game fresh off of a win against Whitehall last week. Emmaus came in at 2-1. The Bears came in at 0-3 looking for their first win of 2019.

Emmaus won the toss and wanted the ball. Jake Moyer led the Hornets out in his second career varsity start. He was impressive again, completing short passes to Sanders and Bertsch. Brandon Camire continued his incredible start to the season as he finished the opening drive off with a 23 yard TD.

Pleasant Valley now trailing brought out their offense which sometimes causes problems because of their formation. It’s an unorthodox formation, not many teams use it. Pleasant Valley used it and got good results but it wasn’t good enough, they went three and out.

Emmaus’ second drive was all about Jake Moyer. He hit several receivers including Bryan Bertsch, who finished the drive off with a TD, making the score 14-0 Emmaus. The Bears tried and tried again to get through the Hornets defense but Emmaus just wouldn’t have it.

The Bears went for it on fourth down on this drive but were unsuccessful. Camire took the ball down the field for the Hornets and scored his second touchdown of the night, making it 21-0 Emmaus. That was the end of the first quarter. The second quarter did not have much action. Neither side scored, and it was 21-0 Emmaus at half.

Pleasant Valley went three and out on the first possession of the second half. Emmaus did not. Camire scored his third touchdown of the night, this a 39-yard scamper. Now it was 28-0 Emmaus. Alex Orlando, Emmaus’ kicker, kicked a pooch kick and caught the Bears napping,

Emmaus recovered the ball and got possession right back. On the first play of the drive, Jake Moyer threw his second touchdown pass of the night to Adam Heiserman. Orlando could not convert the PAT. The score was 34-0 Emmaus. Pleasant Valley made some noise on their next drive, however they could not score.

Emmaus got the ball back. Jake Moyer threw his third touchdown of the night, this one to Jameel Sanders 83 yards on Jameel’s second catch of the night. Orlando added the PAT to make it 41-0. The mercy rule went into effect. The fourth quarter was not filled of a lot of action. Emmaus sophomore QB, Ben Thomas, got his first varsity action. He went 2/2 and 19 yards, he also was the QB at the time of victory formation. Emmaus took this game 41-0 over Pleasant Valley. Emmaus improved to 3-1 on the year and the Bears fell to 0-4.

Emmaus will hit the road next week to take on Easton at Cottingham Stadium. For Pleasant Valley, they will return home to take on Dieruff.
