After a two week break due to COVID-19, the undefeated Spartans looked to continue their winning ways against the Lehighton Indians.
Josh Chowansky, who has been huge for the Spartans all season, opened up the scoring with a seven-yard rushing touchdown with 8:04 in the first quarter. Four minutes later, Jake Hall hit Tanner Walacavage for another North Schuylkill score. They led the Indians 14-0 after one quarter.
To open the second quarter, Hall hit Joey Flail for a 13-yard touchdown. Hall then rushed for his own 21-yard score two minutes later. Another TD pass from Hall connected with Dylan Dietz this time with 7:05 left in the first half. Chowansky added his second rushing TD of the day with a 70-yard run to put the Spartans up 41-0.
The Indians got themselves on the board with a rushing touchdown from Jayvon McDowell. The Spartans ended the first half with a 41-7 lead over the Indians.
North Schuylkill added their final TD with another pass from Hall to Flail in the third quarter. The Indians added their final score in the third as well, with McDowell’s second rushing touchdown of the game. The fourth quarter remained scoreless. The final score was North Schuylkill 48, Lehighton 14.
For the Spartans, Jake Hall had four passing TDs (two to Flail, one to Walacavage and Dietz) and one rushing. Josh Chowansky had two rushing scores. Kody Schell picked up an interception, and Dylan Dietz had a blocked punt.
The Spartans move to 6-0 on the season. On 11/7, they host the Tamaqua Blue Raiders in District XI AAA playoff action. The Indians move to 3-5 on the season. On 11/6, they travel to Pottsville in a AAAA playoff game.
