The 2020-2021 season will be Coach Devin Olenick’s first as Pen Argyl Area High School Girls Basketball Head Coach. Devin is a graduate of both East Stroudsburg High School where he played Baseball, basketball and golf. He continued his education at the University of South Carolina where he majored in Sports Management as an undergraduate and then received his Masters Degree in Physical Education.
Coach Olenick remained in South Carolina and was hired at Northside Christian Academy as a Physical Education teacher. He served as Athletic Director and coached Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Football, Baseball, and Soccer while at Northside. In 2013, Devin was hired as Physical Education Teacher at River Bluff High School where Head JV and Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach for four seasons. The team achieved the schools 1st playoff appearance during his tenure.
Devin moved to Utah in 2017 where he accepted a position at Hillcrest High School as a Physical Education Teacher and Head Girls Basketball Coach. Coach Olenick’s accomplishments at Hillcrest are listed below:
- 2018 Region 2-6A Coach of the Year
- 2018 6A State Coach of the Year Finalist
- 2018 Region Championship
- 2018 6A State Quarterfinalist
- 2019 Region 2-6A Runner-Up
- 2019 6A State Qualifier
- Coached 2 6A All-State players, and 8 All-Region players in 3 years.
- Best 3 year record at Hillcrest since 1984-1986
- Managed coaching staff for Varsity, JV and Sophomore teams.
- Planned and organized fundraisers, and managed budget. Increased budget by 20% in less than 3 years.
- Instituted off-season training program.
- Planned and organized summer camp for 50, 1st-8th graders.
- Led 6 players in 3 years through the college recruiting process to earn a college scholarship
