Phillipsburg Stays On Top

Undefeated P’Burg hosted the Bridgewater Panthers on Friday night. Phillipsburg looked to keep their winning streak alive.
Right out of the gate, Bridgewater’s Nick Catena scored, taking the early lead. They also secured the extra point. The Panthers led at the end of the first quarter, 7-0.

Shortly after, P’Burg tied up the game when junior John Wargo scored. P’Burg’s kicker Luke Brogan secured the extra point.
P’Burg took the lead when quarterback Jett Genovese ran for a touchdown. Brogan successfully made the extra point. At the half, Phillipsburg was up 14-7.

In the third quarter, the Liners continued to score. Sophomore Matthew Scerbo recovered a fumble for a touchdown. With the extra point, P’Burg led 21-7.

Bridgewater fought back when Antione Hinton recovered a fumble for a Bridgewater touchdown. However, the extra point was unsuccessful. Phillipsburg’s Cameron Bohal blocked the extra point, keeping the score at 21-13.

The Stateliners added more points to the board in the fourth quarter. Senior Xavier Moore ran the ball for a touchdown. With yet another successful extra point attempt, P’Burg led 28-13.

P’Burg remains unbeaten (6-0) with this 28-13 victory against Bridgewater. Bridgewater is now 2-6 with this loss. Phillipsburg hosts Union on Friday, October 14 in a pink out game.
