Pine Grove able to use height to their advantage with win over Minersville

Pine Grove Girls used their height to their advantage in the 47-23 win over Minersville in Friday night’s girls’ basketball contest at Pine Grove.

Hollynn Sampson had 12 points, all from layups, to lead the Cardinals in scoring. Ayla Schneck-Haines had nine points and Addison Zimmerman contributed with eight points. For the Battlin’ Miners, Emma Troutman took the lead in the scoring with 11 points. Alayna Boom and Jenna Cullen each had five points. In the first half, there were many fouls and that carried a little bit into the second half. Minersville had a combined 13 team fouls throughout the game while Pine Grove had 11.

With this win, the Cardinals improve to 3-0 this season while the Battlin’ Miners fall to 0-2. Both teams play Tuesday night with Pine Grove traveling to North Schuylkill and Minersville traveling to Lansford to face off with Panther Valley.
