Assistant Coaches:
Varsity Assistant: Stacy Heller
JV: Robert Wouters
Sport: Field Hockey
Team Name: Pocono Mountain East Cardinals
League: EPC
2023 Record: 2-12-1
Key Players Lost: Dakota Stiff, 3 year starter for PME who will be playing for East Stroudsburg University this fall. Dakota’s versatility and hockey skills will be missed this season. Also graduated Lily Kaufman, Millie Galuci and Mia Lopez. We will need to develop a new GK to replace Mia’s tremendous work in the cage last season. We will be looking to develop young players who can step up and match the skills and efforts of our graduating class.
Key Returning Players: Returning varsity starters include: Kayla Doughty,, Mackenzie Lopez, Ally Petryk, Brianna Williams. Returning from a season ending injury in 2023 is Lauren McLain. We expect this group of athletes to step up in both leadership and on field play this season.
Makenzie Lopez, 2025. She is a versatile player who can help our team anywhere on the field and positive role model for our young players. With her strong work ethic, skills and hockey IQ, we look forward to big things from her this season.
Brianna William, 2025: She is a speedy player who has only been playing the sport for 2 years. Her skills improve with every game and practice and she brings energy, competitiveness and speed to our team play.
Lauren McLain, 2026: Lauren is a junior who has been a Varsity athlete, in two sports each fall, since her freshman year. She brings leadership, high work rate and strong field hockey skills to our program and can be utilized in any position on the field.
Key Newcomers: While it is too early to name a key newcomer, there are some exciting younger players who have worked hard this summer and through their tenacious play have shown they can contribute anywhere on the field. We are excited about our returning sophomores and incoming freshman class, many of whom dedicate themselves to field hockey year round.
We are a young team with limited varsity experience. We knew that last year and this year would be building years for us, however we are excited with the talent, work rate and coachability of the players on our current roster. Our overall outlook for this year is dependent on how fast we can help them develop as a team.
2024 Outlook: This is a young team with a core group of athletes who have embraced the challenge of putting in the work this offseason and summer to increase their fitness and hockey skills.
We face tough competition in the EPC and each week will bring challenging competition for our players. With the challenges will come opportunities for growth, for each individual player, and for our team as a whole. Whatever the final record will be, the main goal is to develop our young team so that we get better everyday. Our coaching staff is excited to help this team grow as athletes and as young persons.
