On August 22nd 2025, Bangor Football traveled to Saucon Valley for the opening night of Friday Night Lights. Coming off a 1-9 record from the previous year, Bangor sought out an early victory to avenge their last season, however they were never able to gain a lead over the Panthers. Saucon went 8-3 last year, were they also took on Bangor first and were victorious. .
Early into the first quarter Saucon took the lead, with their first touchdown only 5 minutes into the game. Not long after Saucon secured a 14 point lead heading into the second quarter. Though, Bangor did find 2 touchdowns in the second quarter, but allowed Saucon to recoup and score twice before the end of the half. Halftime score: Bangor 14 – Saucon Valley 28
Heading into the second half of the game, Saucon was strong, again securing an early touchdown to further their lead after only 3 minutes of play. Bangor struggled to contend but kept fighting. However they were unable to secure a points before the end of the third. Nearing the end of the 4th quarter Bangor was able to pick up a rushing touchdown, but Saucon followed it up with a passing touchdown of their own. Final Score: Bangor 21 – Saucon Valley 42
The Panthers now start their season with a 1-0 record where they are looking to continue this trend of victory against Palisades next week. The two teams face off at Saucon Valley this Friday (8/29) at 7pm.
Bangor is looking to regroup and find a home victory over Lehighton who they play this Thursday (8/28) at 7pm.
