SOFTBALL: Delaware County Explodes in Fourth to Blank Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup Squad

The Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup softball team saw its two-game winning streak halted Tuesday afternoon, falling to Delaware County, 6-0, in a game decided by a six-run fourth inning.

Despite the loss, Lehigh Valley finished the day with a strong 2-1 record.

For three innings, Lehigh Valley battled Delaware County scoreless behind solid pitching and defense. Starter Mari Eiswerth kept the game tight early, while the Lehigh Valley defense worked around scattered hits to keep Delaware County off the board.

The game changed in the bottom of the fourth inning as Delaware County erupted for six runs on six hits. Rosemary Caramanico started the scoring with an RBI single to center field to plate Nicole Semerjian for a 1-0 lead. Delaware County added another run on a passed ball before an error helped extend the inning and make it 3-0.

With momentum fully on their side, Delaware County continued to apply pressure. Audrie Criswell delivered a sacrifice fly to center to score Sydney Reid, before Sophie Maitland added an RBI single. Brenna Carfrey capped the inning with an RBI triple to left field, pushing the advantage to 6-0.

Lehigh Valley managed just three hits in the contest, with Natalie Lilly, JoJo Siegfried, and Morgan Schwab each collecting a hit. Siegfried added a stolen base as Lehigh Valley struggled to generate offense against Delaware County pitchers Kiera Norton and Samantha Wolf, who combined to toss a shutout.

Delaware County finished with six hits, led by Carfrey, Semerjian, Caramanico, Criswell, and Maitland, all driving in runs during the decisive fourth inning.

Despite the loss, Lehigh Valley All-Stars went 2-1 overall, continuing to show competitive play in Carpenter Cup action.
