Key Returning Players:
Janssen Brown – Sr (P/OF/3B) – has been a consistent part of the team the past two seasons. Moving him to the OF to help preserve his arm on the mound. Needs to just continue to improve as he has his entire career.
Chris Fritts – Jr (P/1B) – had a breakout year on the mound last year. Another position move to 1B to help preserve his arm. Needs to prove to be consistent throughout the season at the plate. We can’t go without him.
Matty O’Neill – Jr (CF) – Proved he can patrol center field as good as anyone in the league last year. Needs to continue to improve at the plate and play the game as hard as he attacks the soccer field.
Eli Calaba – Sr (C) – ended the season injured and we missed his leadership. Just needs to relax and let the game come to him. Very good defensively and should be able to handle the pitching staff. Continuing to improve at the plate and stay within himself will be key.
Austin Bonde Sr (2B/P) – will get a chance to finish his career on a positive note. Needs to be confident in his abilities and play looose.
Logan Kessler – Jr (P/1B) – has continued to improve on the mound and we’re excited about his present and future. Swung it well at the end of last season and has continued that. Importand piece on both O and D.
Hayden Hess – Sr (2B) – has been patiently waiting his turn and will find opportunities especially when Bonde pitches. Just has to make the routine plays and play loose.
Scott Stevens – Sr (P/Util) – didn’t get much of an opportunity last season. Will need some production from him on the mound this year and to fill in around the field.
Key Newcomers:
Luke Kawczenski – So (OF) – an end of season call up. Was able to get some time and valuable time in the playoffs last year. Has a ton of athletic ability. Needs to trust himself.
Gabe Moscato – So (P/3B) – another end of season call up that got some time in the playoffs. Very excited about his potential on the mound. Quick hands at the plate, but has a lot to learn about the game. Ceiling is high.
Sean McMenamy – Jr (OF) – sweet left-handed swing. He needs to take advantage of the opportunities he’ll get this year when Brown pitches/DHs
Colton Sams Fr (SS) – field rat, baseball junkie. Works his tail off and earned the opportunity to start. Him performing well allows us to be far more flexible with lineups.
Mason Gilmore – Jr (P/DH) – He will have opportunities on the mound and at the plate. Need to get some production in both areas from him.
Cai Dunn – Jr (C/DH) – another one that we need to have maximize his opportunities. Will help out on the bases as well.
MJ Edwards – Jr (1B) – has to earn his way out there on defense. Hoping he will be able to create havoc on the bases.
2024 Outlook: Pitching staff is pretty deep and we are excited about them. We’ll play the game the same as we always do – manufacturing runs, getting around the bases. Interesting mix of young and veteran players that we need to mesh.
Question marks are obviously the kids who haven’t competed at this level before, in addition to taking our #1 and 2 pitchers out of their normal defensive positions. With that in mind we have two returning guys playing in their positions from last year.
