The Rovers are on the Rise

After a tough 6-14 record in the 2024 spring baseball season, Coaches Carmelo Laduca and Greg Hess, along with the rest of the staff, knew it was a must to bring this program back to its former glory. Rover Baseball has struggled the past two seasons, however they knew 2025 had to be different.

The Rovers currently sit at 8-5 having already tied their win record from 2023 and passed their win record of last year. This team has been shutting down teams through their pitching, with senior leaders such as Zach Mattes, Nolan Fuller, and Rowan Galiotto on the mound, who all looked phenomenal through the first 13 games.

People have questioned the Rovers ability to beat good teams and close out games, but with convincing wins over teams such as Stroudsburg, Liberty, and Bethlehem Catholic, those questions have been answered. “What is the key to the Rovers success this year?”, people might ask. After having the chance to talk to coaches, they believe it is the practice format. Coach Rusnock, their hitting coach said, “We get so many live reps, whether it’s pitching, hitting, or defense, we get more live reps than any other Easton baseball team has before.”

Also, new names are stepping up big for the Rovers. Senior third basemen Brogan Pagotto has been an anchor at third base, and junior catcher Max Martenis has been getting it done at the plate early in the season. Both helped contribute to their success and have been valuable assets in key situations.

Four out of five Rover losses have been by a one to two run margin. Baseball is a sport where anything can happen and the Rovers are excited to face those teams again. All the puzzle pieces are being put together for Easton. The Rovers are seeking to get back in contention this year, and they are taking it one game at a time.
