The Spartans down the Tigers in Colonial League Soccer

When Southern Lehigh and Northwestern-Lehigh get together in Girls Soccer, the best of both teams, come out on the pitch. And Tuesday night was no different in New Tripoli, with the Spartans edging the Tigers 2-1.

First place on the line in this Colonial League showdown, with the Spartans checking into the game at 4-0-1 in league play and 5-2-1 overall while the Tigers were a perfect 5-0 and 9-0 overall.
Northwestern also coming into the game ranked number two in the state in the 2A classification.

Southern Lehigh jumped on the scoreboard first about 12 minutes into the game. Emma Singley followed a shot by Emily Jordan and found the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage and that would be your score at the half.

In the second half, more from Singley, as she she scores her second goal of the night 14 minutes in, giving the Spartans some breathing room. But, 10 minutes later, Sophia Motolese delivered with a 45 yard direct kick to close the gap to 2-1.

But that would be the closest the Tigers would get as the Spartans pulled out the win 2-1 to improve to 6-2-1 overall while Northwestern drops their first game and are now 9-1 overall. Next up for Southern Lehigh will be Palmerton on Thursday, while the Tigers will have another battle on their hands, when they travel to Moravian Academy to take on the Lions.
