Key Returning Players:
Timmy Spinosa (S) #1 Singles
Looks to finish out a great high school tennis career. He will anchor our strong singles lineup. Has been working hard in the offseason to improve upon his excellent junior season where he advanced to the semi finals in the 2A singles district tournament.
Mack Zeller (S) #2 Singles
Four year starter, third year at singles. Looks to finish out a great high school tennis career. Looks to improve upon his junior season at two singles. Key part of our strong singles lineup.
Matt Keenan (JR) #3 Singles
Matt is entering his third year as a starter, but his first at singles. Earned the final singles spot this past week in a strong competition. Has been working hard all offseason to make that transition to singles . Will gain invaluable experience this season as well as hold down a key court for us.
Ian Abbadessa (S) and Aryaan Chauhan (JR) #2 Doubles
Entering his senior season Ian will anchor our doubles lineup along with his partner Aryaan. We will depend heavily on this doubles pairing this season. They are experienced doubles players but will be playing together for the first time. They will hold down a key court for us this season.
Zach Torchia (S), Arseny Skrapits (S), Alex Germick (JR), Thomas Dzik (JR) – #3 and #4 Doubles – three and four year players, but first year in the starting lineup. Potential to be great doubles teams, but will need to gain experience, work hard, and improve throughout the season.
Key Newcomers:
Thomas Rutt (JR), Zach Abbedessa (F), Matthew Wheeler (F), Ben Ralston (SO) –
Will round out the varsity roster. Young players with loads of potential. Will play exhibition matches mostly this year to gain experience. Will be key parts of our roster down the road.
Anthony Romero (JR), Kyan Block (F), John Craig (F), Chasae Reightler (F), and Jude Yakamavage (F) – JV
They will form the core of our JV roster. All first year players. Have all been working hard over the past month and very enthusiastic. Need valuable experience playing, and to work on their games in the offseason.
2024 Outlook: We expect to be highly competitive, qualify for the district postseason, and compete again for a district title.
Our strength is certainly our junior/senior leadership and experience and our singles lineup. Timmy and Mack in particular have played major roles since they have entered the lineup as freshmen in our team winning two district titles in the past three years and we will certainly lean on them again this year. Ian, Matt, and Aryaan round out our singles and top doubles pairing. Matt at three singles and Ian/Aryaan on our top doubles team will be key components in our success.
Our biggest question marks right now is how our other doubles pairings shape up. They have high potential, and I expect them to continue our tradition of having strong doubles teams. They will have to continue working hard all season and continue to gain valuable experience.
