Key Newcomers: With the key losses of seniors from last years team we are looking for our returning athletes to fill in those voids but we are also excited to see what our incoming freshman have to offer and where they can make their mark in the upcoming season.

2026 Outlook: While both teams are looking to fill in some big shoes of senior athletes from the 25 season, we are looking forward to another big year from our returning state qualifiers from last year Jacob Tom in long jump and Kali Grochowski in the high jump. Also returning a majority of the girls 4×800 relay team Maddy Davis, Teaghan Biros, and Addy Marek, that place 4th in the Schuylkill League meet last year.

We are looking forward to an exciting season of both team and individual successes. Looking to continue the momentum and successes of this program built up during Coach Huegel’s tenure as head coach and to continue the long standing expectation of excellence and tradition of Marian Track and Field.

2026 Outlook: Our expectation is to be in contention for the league title again this year. It is never easy during dual meets, but I know our athletes will be up to the challenge. The weather has been difficult so fair this year for us as well as all the teams we will face. We just have to take it one day and meet at a time and focus on improving during that time.

Indoor Track Team – Our indoor season continues to be the key to building our success. 195 athletes trained outside this winter and competed at indoor meets primarily at colleges and universities. The weather was particularly challenging this winter with all the snow and frigid temperatures. I believe the work put in over the winter will be key to our success this spring. We had 3 athletes compete at the PTFCA Indoor State Championship @ Penn State. Radnor Rowlands medaled by placing 6th in the 60m dash. Lincoln Clark and Kaley Seide both broke our school records in the 200m. Ten of our indoor school records were broken this indoor season.

Head Coach: Dave Ackerman, 17th year

Assistant Coaches:
Grace Baroun-throws
Dan Reichenbach-jumps
Jim O’Leary-hurdles and relays
Taylor Holko-sprints

Team Name: Vikings/Vikettes

League: EPC

Key Players Lost:
Angie Braun-jumps
Milly Wolf-jumps
Duke Ebert-distance

Key Returning Players:
Emerson Springs-jumps. Emerson earned a trip to the State Championships last year by placing second in the triple jump at the District XI 2A Championships. She is healthier this year and poised for a strong senior season.

Will Haring-distance. Will, for the second year in a row, took third place in the District XI 2A 3200 meter run. After a successful cross country season, Will is looking forward to taking the next step.

Key Newcomers: We have a lot of  new faces and it’s been a nice infusion of talent for the sprinters.

2026 Outlook: The biggest question mark is keeping people healthy in the throws, jumps and distance running events. While the sprinters have the potential and the depth to be solid, the other disciplines’ numbers are way down, and that lack of depth might prove troublesome with an injury or two.

2026 Outlook: Learn to focus on the everyday fundamentals needed to improve in each of our events. If we can steadily do that, we will improve as a whole. We don’t focus on scores, wins/losses, or PR’s. We focus on working hard.

– Should have some strong mid and long distance runners as well as relays for both boys and girls.

– Hurdles, sprints and jumps should improve from last year for both boys and girls.

– Our throwers have improved and some newcomers will help out.

“We expect our top athletes to score points, and with a solid mix of experience and talented young athletes, we’ll continue to develop our program.”

2025 Colonial League Championships: Both the 4x400m relay (4:20.43) and 4x800m relay (10:11.71) teams placed 6th.

Key Newcomers: We are currently evaluating our new freshmen and first-time upperclassmen in practice. Too early to tell, but I anticipate a few of them will step up and score varsity points for us, but I want to get a look at them in our early weeks before singling anyone out.

2026 Outlook: I am incredibly optimistic. If you look at our top returnees, almost all of our District medalists from last year were just freshmen and sophomores. We have a young foundation that already knows how to compete—and win—under the high pressure of a championship setting. We have some first year upperclassman joining the team with experience in other varsity sports, and a nice group of freshman boys and girls.

Our goal is to always get the most athletes we can to leagues and districts. We have a lot of individuals in the throws and distance that can score some points in dual meets, but our depth is always going to be a weakness for us.
