CENTER VALLEY — The Southern Lehigh boys volleyball team continued its impressive postseason run Tuesday night, defending its home court in dominant fashion as the Spartans swept Lansdale Catholic 3-0 in the opening round of the PIAA Class AA Tournament.
Southern Lehigh, now 17-5, controlled the match from the opening serve, earning straight-set victories 25-11, 25-18, and 25-21 to advance to the PIAA AA Quarterfinals.
The Spartans wasted little time asserting themselves, overwhelming Lansdale Catholic in the opening set behind aggressive net play and strong serving. Southern Lehigh’s balanced attack continued throughout the match, with senior setter Tyler Dittus orchestrating the offense and spreading the ball efficiently to multiple hitters.
Dittus finished with 34 assists, while adding one kill, three digs, and one block in another steady all-around performance.
Leading the offensive charge was Zach Roman, who delivered a standout effort with 16 kills, while contributing three digs, one block, and an ace. Roman repeatedly found openings in the Crusaders’ defense and helped Southern Lehigh maintain momentum throughout the night.
At the net, Henry Parrish proved to be a force on both sides of the ball, recording nine kills and six blocks, while adding four digs. His defensive presence disrupted Lansdale Catholic’s attack and helped the Spartans control the tempo.
Nate Bukta added seven kills, two aces, and six digs, while Jeremy Hoch chipped in four kills, five digs, and two aces to give Southern Lehigh consistent production across the lineup.
Defensively, Chase Benner anchored the back row with a team-high 15 digs, adding two assists to keep rallies alive. Cavan King-Vlass contributed three kills and four digs, while Mason Williams added one kill and one assist in the victory.
With the win, Southern Lehigh advances to the PIAA AA Quarterfinals, where the Spartans will face District 3 champion York Suburban on Saturday, June 6, with the site and time still to be determined.
Riding momentum from their District XI championship and back-to-back postseason sweeps, the Spartans now sit just two wins away from a trip to the PIAA state finals.
