The Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup softball team jumped out early and never looked back, using a balanced offensive attack to earn a convincing 14-6 victory over Burlington County in Carpenter Cup action.
Lehigh Valley wasted little time getting on the board, striking first in the top of the second inning. Natalie Lilly delivered a two-run double to left field and Tessa Kemmerer and Sydney Bennett scored, while Brooklyn Pronovich added a sacrifice fly to score Natalie Lilly for a 3-0 lead. Mari Eiswerth later singled home JoJo Siegfried, and Sydney Ryan ripped an RBI triple before Morgan Schwab reached on an error that allowed another run to score as Lehigh Valley exploded for six runs in the top 2nd.
Burlington County answered in the bottom half of the inning with five runs to cut the deficit to 6-5. Haylee Gaidecski highlighted the rally with a two-run double, while Peyton Farquhar reached on an error that helped plate two runs.
Lehigh Valley regained control in the third inning, adding three more runs to extend the lead. JoJo Siegfried delivered an RBI single, Brooklyn Pronovich ripped a run-scoring double, and Mari Eiswerth crushed a two-run triple to make it 9-5.
Burlington County pushed across one run in the bottom of the third when Alyssa Crusen reached on an error that brought home Avery Anderson, trimming the lead to 9-6.
That was as close as Burlington County would get.
Lehigh Valley slammed the door in the fifth inning with a five-run outburst. Riley Palank ignited the rally with a two-run triple that scored Sydney Bennett and Natalie Lilly. Peyton Besecker followed with an RBI single before Morgan Schwab delivered a two-run double to cap the scoring and secure the 14-6 victory.
Lehigh Valley pounded out 16 hits in the win, led by several standout performances. Natalie Lilly was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while JoJo Siegfried added three hits, one RBI, and two runs scored. Sydney Bennett crossed the plate three times and added two hits.
Mari Eiswerth starred both at the plate and in the circle, collecting two hits and four RBIs, including a two-run triple, while also earning the win with six strikeouts over three innings. Sydney Ryan added a triple and RBI, while Morgan Schwab and Riley Palank each drove in two runs.
In relief, Maddie Bixler shut the door by tossing two scoreless innings, allowing no hits while striking out four.
For Burlington County, Haylee Gaidecski finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Peyton Farquhar also drove in two runs in the loss.
