Northampton’s Brayden Wenrich Advances to Fargo Junior Freestyle National Finals

Northampton standout Brayden Wenrich has earned an opportunity to wrestle for a national championship. Representing Team Pennsylvania, Wenrich advanced to the 120-pound Junior Freestyle championship finals at the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota. The prestigious tournament brings together many of the top high school wrestlers in the country at the Fargodome.

Wenrich will face Michael Batista of New Jersey in the 120-pound championship final, with the winner earning a coveted Fargo stop-sign trophy and the title of Junior Freestyle national champion.

Wenrich put together an impressive run through a talented national bracket, using his speed, technique and aggressive freestyle offense to secure a spot in the championship match.

One of his dominant victories came against Brand’n Edstrom (TEID) as Wenrich rolled to a 12-5 win in the semi-finals.

Wenrich entered Fargo coming off a championship season for Northampton. In March, he captured the 2026 PIAA Class 3A state championship at 114 pounds with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hazleton Area’s Gabe Benyo in the championship final at the Giant Center in Hershey.

The state championship added another major accomplishment to Wenrich’s growing résumé and helped establish him as one of Pennsylvania’s top young wrestlers. His success continued on the national stage in Fargo, where he proved that he belongs among the country’s elite freestyle competitors.

Reaching the Fargo finals also guarantees Wenrich Junior Freestyle All-American honors and gives him an opportunity to compete for one of the most recognizable awards in youth wrestling—the prestigious Fargo stop-sign championship trophy.
