Paul Short Invitational High School Edition

Paul Short is one of the biggest Cross Country Invitationals in the country. Over 6,000 high school and college runners hit the course at Lehigh University, the host of the invitational this past Saturday.

The high school races had many individual PRs and even a course record. With temperatures in the mid 60s and a great talented field of runners, it was a perfect day to run a fast time.

In the Girls White Race, there was a photo finish between Naomi Hillen and Tatum Lynch with Naomi Hillen from Pottsgrove winning with a time of 18:37. The Boys White Race was won by Ben Kuhn from Wyomissing Area with a time of 15:43, giving him a 35 second PR.

The Girls Brown Race had the best individual performance of the day. Karrie Baloga from Cornwall broke the High School Girls 5k course record with a time of 16:59. She ran four seconds faster than the previous record set back in 2005. This also puts her on the national radar with such an impressive time. The Boys Brown Race was won by Robert DiDonato from Germantown Academy with a time of 15:15.

Key performances close to home included Liberty ́s Cole Frank and Easton ́s Marco Cardone, who had very good races in the Boys Brown Race. Cole Frank finished 10th overall with a time of 15:38 giving him a 33 second PR. Marco Cardone finished 15th overall with a time of 15:52 giving him an 18 second PR.
