Allen’s Doug Snyder and Scott Cooperman head into Retirement

They have been side by side for more than 20 years, but now Allen Head Basketball Coach and History teacher Doug Snyder and Athletic Director Scott Cooperman will ride into the sunset together. Snyder after 23 years and Cooperman after 21 and they are happy to be going out together.

Cooperman graduated from Allen High School in 1982, became a teacher in the School District in 1986, was the Head Baseball coach for four years before becoming Allen’s AD in 1999. He replaced Les Kish who retired after 17 years.

For Snyder, a 1974 Graduate of William Allen High School, he taught and coached basketball in New Jersey before coming back to his alma mater to do the same. Snyder has seen a great deal of success on the hardwood seeing his team win 4 District XI and 4 League titles during his tenure along with more than a dozen state appearances.

While he ends his coaching career with a 364-236 mark at Allen, he not only will leave with the memories of having coached some great players, but also leaves on a high mark, seeing his team win the East Penn Conference Championship this past season at the PPL Center in Allentown and being inducted into the William Allen Hall of Fame.

Both are looking to continue doing what they love in some capacity as they move on to the next chapter of their lives. During their visit on our D11Sports.com podcast, both talked about many different topics including retirement, the student athletes at Allen, the top players coached over the last 23 years, along with life after retirement.
