2021 Football Preview – Notre Dame Green Pond

Despite losing some key players in their lineup, Notre Dame Green Pond Football is poised to have a successful season. In interviewing players, the pervasive theme of the ND football “family” is that there is no one standout player, but instead a mature, hard-working cohesive group of young men who all are striving toward the same goal. Senior Logan Castellano says that the goal is, “…to go 3-0 → win Leagues, Districts, and States!”

Quarterback Collin Quintano says that his, “…goal is to be a leader and a role model.” When speaking about the team as a whole, Quintano shared that “[They] are all strong as a whole and will do great things on the field because of that”. Being a role model is also important to Senior Alex Cruz who gives immense credit to the coaching staff and, “players stepping up into new roles and working hard in the off season to benefit the entire team.”

Most players, such as Senior Nadir Sanders indicated that they have concentrated in the off season with lifting, agility/strength/speed training, 1 on 1’s, camps, etc. This overall combination of on and off the field training is bound to assist the Crusaders in their quest for a winning season. As the old saying goes — If the whole is in fact better than the sum of its parts — the Crusaders will be exciting to watch as a team this year. As Castellano so aptly said, “[NDGP football] has a really tight bond that won’t be broken.”

Key Players for the Crusaders: Jayden Becker, Antonio Caiazzo, Ryan Carroll, Logan Castellano, Alex Cruz, Nick Garrido, Gavin Gibbs, Josh Ludlow, Mason Ludlow, Ethan O’Neill, Collin Quintano, Nadir Sanders, Dainn Vassallo
